Belgian Inspiration is Imported to San Francisco by Urban Chateau
~ Excerpted from California Homes, July/August, 2004. Photographs by Thomas John Gibbons.

Urban Chateau, the Sacramento Street antique gallery known for hand selecting and importing fine period antiques from Europe, recently introduced Belgian designer Pieter Porters to the Bay Area. Pieter Porters decorated the Urban Chateau gallery for a luxurious party in his honor, sponsored by California Homes. Drawing inspiration from the color, form and texture of the antiques, Porters integrated organic elements of fruit, flowers, shells and feathers into exquisite antique containers, including an unexpected arrangement of jasmine and berries built into a large-scale antique Italian iron chandelier. The guests were welcomed by musicians bedecked in period costumes and playing a rare Louis XV style piano by the famous Parisian maker Erard, (circa 1890) provided by the Music Szalon.
