A beautiful pair of 18th Century fauteuil, each inset oval padded back centering a carved walnut acanthus leaf; over horizontal padded arms on splayed supports with foliate carving; joining a bowed upholstered seat, raised on fluted tapered legs terminating in toupie feet. Wear and patination to walnut finish; with later cowhide upholstery. Provenance: One chair stamped J. Nadal-Laine, a purveyor of distinguished furniture during the reign of Louis XVI.
