QUARTER-ROUND A convex molding resembling a quarter circle in section. QUATTROCENTO OR RINASCIMENTO (1400-1500) Early Italian Renaissance, a style of classical purity and simplicity characterized by development of architectural formality. A renewed interest in ancient art endowed all furniture of this time. Bases of pedestals, solid to the floor, rather than feet were widely used. Cushions were added for comfort on seating. Chairs were principally straight rectangular structures, which were also large and dignified. Tables derived mainly from the long trestle type with turned baluster legs or shaped slabs.
